Men Leading the Charge
From the Introduction
We live in a confusing, high pressure, and difficult
culture for men. Christian men who seriously seek to
provide spiritual leadership in their families often
don't know how. In this study, we will talk to men
about the need for the practical aspects of men leading
their families.
This study will provide a daily follow-up for five days
of study after each session. You will explore more
deeply into the subjects we talk about. The topics will
include; the need for husbands and father's to
provide leadership in the home, hot to be a Godly
husband to your wife, how to anchor your family in
Christ for the next hundred years, and how to be a
Godly father.
In the final half of the study, we will deal with some
specialized issues facing modern fathers. We will
discuss child rearing in this gender-confused age. It
provides help for confronting the relativism that has
devastated both modern society and families. A session
is dedicated to the greatest struggle facing men; how
to be a one woman kind of man. Finally, we will focus
on the ultimate goal for every Christian man --
finishing your journeys strong for Christ.
Each week we encourage you to meet with your men's
group to review and discuss lessons. Then study each
day the material in these hand outs. Make the study
part of your daily quiet time. Make notes of issues you
want to study further in your personal Bible
study.
The days in which we live
cry out for Christian men to provide godly leadership.
Our society is filled with false images of what it
means to be a man. We see abusive and neglectful
husbands and fathers. We see week and ineffective men.
We see men who ignore their wife and children while
they focus on jobs and careers. We want to challenge
you to provide a different kind of model for the
families of our day. We want to challenge you to be a
Christian man who leads your family with both courage
and tenderness. Now is the time for men to lead the
charge.
Community Parent Rally & Youth Conference
December 18th and 20th
South Texarkana Baptist Church will host a community
youth conference and parent rally with the hopes of
reaching the next generation.
The goal is to reach youth with important messages now,
rather than later.
The parent rally will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday
at 409 S. State Line Ave., and will give the parents
insight on the topics to be covered at the youth
conference slated for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 20.
The free youth event is for youth ages 12 and older and
includes lunch.
Permission forms and registration forms will be
available at the parent rally.
Parental permission is required for an STD
presentation. Other classes include topics on
character, self-esteem, relationships and dating.
Registration for the conference will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Dec. 20.
The conference will include presentations by First
Choice Pregnancy Resource Center and other
activities.
The two-part event
is a kickoff for more activities slated for early next
year, said the Rev. Travis Payne, pastor at South
Texarkana Baptist.
Free Wedding Ceremonies & Receptions
For couples February 11th through 13th 2009
For most brides and grooms, planning a wedding and
spending your life savings to have it can be a bit
overwhelming. So as a result, 1st choice pregnancy
resource center, local churches and businesses have
teamed up with the ultimate wedding event of our
lifetime.
On February 11th, 12th & 13th of 2009, there will
be free wedding ceremonies and receptions available for
any couples that have a desire to be married, but
can't afford it. All couples must go through free
premarital education classes given by 1st choice
pregnancy center in order to qualify for the event. The
dates for the classes are January 24th, 30th, and
February 7th, 2009.
The Pastors of South Texarkana Baptist Church have
volunteered their services to officiate the ceremonies.
Also, local vendors such as Royal Kingdom Designs,
Walker's Catering & Bridal Services, and
Married For Life have already donated their
services for this even and so could you. If you wold
