South Texarkana Baptist Church recently added two associate pastors to the staff.
Gary Dean Sr. will serve as a counselor, and Kenneth Easley will work with senior adults, shut-ins and the food ministry.
“These two men have already been doing a lot of this work already, so the church decided to make it official,” said the Rev. Travis Payne, pastor.
Member-ship at the church has grown to about 400 from only a handful of people since 2006, and with the added membership comes added needs within the church, Payne said.
Payne said God began putting this ministry team together several years ago when all three men volunteered at the Trucker’s Chapel.
Dean, an ordained Baptist minister, is a certified counselor on various issues, including drug and alcohol addiction.

Easley is also licensed to preach and has served as a missionary/chaplain at the Trucker’s Chapel.
“We are excited to see what God is going to do next in this ministry,” Payne said.
