Member Finds Link to Our Past
Phyllis Young, a member of South Texarkana
Baptist Church, recently presented a New Testament Bible
to fellow church member David Kidd, at a special service
at their church.The Bible was found in an old house formerly owned by the church’s first pastor, M.G. Kidd, who was also the great-great-grandfather of David Kidd. Also found in the home was the book, “Gospel of John,” copyright circa 1920.
The church is gearing up for a homecoming celebration slated for Sept. 28 and hopes to have access to many other articles and items for use in the service.
“We do not have a lot of information on the church’s early history and hope this will inspire people to make it available to the church,” said Payne.
